Cardano was founded by Charles Hoskinson, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, and launched officially in 2017. The platform was named after the 16th-century Italian mathematician Gerolamo Cardano. Its ADA token takes its name from Ada Lovelace, widely recognised as one of the earliest pioneers of computer programming.
